Cittaslow Member Lefke Municipality at the İzmir Tourism Fair
The municipalities of Yeniboğaziçi, Lefke, Mehmetçik, Geçitkale and Tatlısu, members of the Cittaslow Network, attended the 15th Travel Turkey İzmir Fair and Congress held on 2–4 December as guests of the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, representing the TRNC Cittaslow Network.
At the three-day fair, where the cultural products and the natural surroundings of the Cittaslow towns were presented, products specific to each town were exhibited at the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus stand and tasting stands for local products were set up. The stand, which also presented traditional and local products made in Lefke and its villages, attracted great interest and was visited by the Turkish Deputy Minister of Culture, the Deputy Governor of İzmir, İzmir Metropolitan Mayor Tunç Soyer, İz-Koop President Neptün Soyer and many participating municipal representatives and visitors.
Following the contacts made during the fair, discussions were also completed on the “Cyprus Days” project to be organised in İzmir by the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, bringing the products of Cittaslow Network producers to the people of İzmir; a date was set and it was decided to begin the necessary preparations for the event.
