Right beside the Piri Mehmet Pasha Mosque stands the well-preserved, relief-carved marble tomb of Vizier Osman Pasha, who is thought to have been killed in 1839, while bringing the Tanzimat edict to Cyprus, by a slow-acting poison administered by those opposed to it.

Having become weak after arriving in Cyprus, Vizier Osman stayed for a time in a mansion in Lefke, in the belief that the air would do him good.

This marble tomb, which reflects Ottoman-period stonework at its finest, is a work of art well worth seeing.
