A “Sister Municipality Protocol” has been signed between Lefke Municipality and Odunpazarı Municipality in Eskişehir.
Work begun in May 2019 towards Odunpazarı-Eskişehir Municipality and Lefke Municipality becoming “Sister Municipalities” has been completed, and the protocol was signed on 9 December 2021. The protocol signed between two municipalities that share a common outlook despite being in different countries aims to establish cooperation on a range of projects, particularly for children and young entrepreneurs.
During their visit to Odunpazarı, Mayor of Lefke Mr Aziz Kaya and the accompanying delegation met Odunpazarı Mayor Kazım Kurt, received information about the culture and arts workshops run by the municipality and visited the workshops. Following these technical visits, it was agreed that steps would be taken to run similar workshops within Lefke Municipality and that various exchange programmes would be implemented for the training of craftspeople — the first steps in the sister-municipality relationship.
